Train Your Dog - Start When They Are Puppies Or it Might Be Too Late

By Rikard Ingvarsson

Which is the most appropriate time to train a dog? This happens to be the most important question to the trainer of a dog since he knows that without a proper training the dog can\'t be tamed. Well, if you do have the same question, try to start the training from their tender days. The best is always to start when it is a puppy. What's the main reason? A puppy remains like a blackboard and you can write anything you like. However care must be taken or else it may lead to elsewhere. You should be careful.

The success of any such training depends on the trainer and not on the puppy. It has been found, most of all, the perseverance and sense of discipline of the trainer leads the procedure of training to ultimate success. Therefore the success of failure depends on the trainer alias the owner than anything else. Now, as an owner you are mostly familiar with your dog and hence you should be the trainer only. Perhaps by now you have understood that you shall have to be committed to a routine and apply the best techniques to attain success also. Never forget that the concept of house training takes time and must move in view of that. Try to concentrate from the very beginning on the crate training. This is regarded as the most successful method of training a puppy.

What shall you do? All you have to do is to prepare a special crate for the puppy. If you are not having any such crate, you can simply cordon off the entire area for your puppy. This will confine his movement and it won't be able to move outside all of a sudden. Moreover, this will also be the sleeping area of the puppy. Dogs have strange habits. They, unlike other animals, do not make their sleeping areas filthy. You will thus be able to create a hygienic shelter for the puppy. But at the same time it is necessary to show the puppy the area to eliminate waste materials. It may be that at the beginning it's found to be reluctant. Nevertheless the onus is on you to make it learn this. This is essential. You, at the same time, should not leave a puppy in its crate/sleep area for a lengthy period. Why is this so? A puppy is devoid of the competence to hold urination or elimination of waste for a long time. There's the need of semi-frequent breaks. This will make it be familiar with the propriety in manner and conduct.

You shall have to adopt the same carefulness at the time of command training also. The puppy from its own age of 6 months should be taught of the basics of command training as these play great roles in grooming the dog. Try to begin with the slightest commands and they should not be ambiguous, complicated and of more than one word. The dog should not be perplexed.

These should be imparted to a puppy and hence it can get graceful.
