If you are a dog owner like myself you will want to know how to get rid of dog fleas. Unfortunately if you own a dog then you are going to have to solve this problem of dog fleas sooner or later

Most people will not be aware that both dog fleas and cat fleas are extremely similar and either of these fleas can breed on both dogs and cats alike. In fact they are so similar in their biological makeup that they are most ofter discussed under the same topic heading.

It is a fact that dog fleas and cat fleas are the most common flea species that are found around the home and it can quite often be the case that your dog may have fleas without you knowing. Unfortunately fleas can breed at a rapid rate and without steps being taken to control this dog flea infestation they can quickly start to be a massive problem both to the dog and dog owner.

The male flea is smaller in size than the female flea which is generally 2.5 mm in length and both male and female dog flea combs have 8 pairs of spines. The dog flea larvae is approximately twice the length of the adult dog flea and in general it feeds on different types of organic matter and dry blood particles.

It is always worth checking the sleeping area of your pet to ensure that it is free from flea activity such as the fleas white eggs and flea larvae. Be sure to vacuum your carpets on a regular basis and use a good pest control agent to ensure your home's cleanliness.

There are many flea control products such as dog shampoo's and general dog flea agents that will greatly assist you with your dog flea problem.

Remember although dog fleas are a problem it is possible to completely eradicate them if you follow some basic hygiene rules and its not an unsolvable mystery how to get rid of dog fleas.
