Bag it Up! The Best and Most Convenient Ways to Clean After Man's Best Friend

By Otto Kreistler

It's a fact of life: everywhere we go, dogs will follow. We don't call them man's best friends for nothing. Ever since the beginning of time, hunter-gatherers have used dogs as part of their everyday lives. They have probably played a bigger part in the history of human civilization as a whole than cars. And because they have been bred and trained to fill so many functions that include, racing, hunting, tracking, companionship and aesthetic enjoyment, they are bound to be here to stay.

That would be mostly a good thing except for the fact that they leave less-than-amazing souvenirs commonly known as poo. And when that happens, all your childhood dreams about owning your very own version of Lassy crashes down to a familiar plane called reality. And more often than not it's you who is left to do the disgusting cleaning chore. So how do you most effectively clean your dog's refuse?

One good idea is the classic solution: the bag. But bagging dog litter is more of an art than it seems. First you're going to need the right kind of bag for the job. Too little and you're going to find as much of the mess on your hand as on the bag. Bread bags work well because of their size. And when you're about to pick up the dog poo, adhere to the following guidelines: first wrap the bag around your hand like a glove and pick the refuse up with your gloved hand. Turn the bag inside out and close it with a knot to make it disposable.

If you really can't stand the handling of dog excrement with a bag, you can always go for the scooper. A pooper scooper consists of long handled devices such as rakes, spades or shovels spares you the trouble of holding it in all its soft, squishy glory. You can get your pooper scooper from most pet stores. It isn't as convenient as the bag though, because of its size. But hey, sure beats touching it yourself.

In the case of excrement on your driveway, you have the amazing option of flushing it clear off your property with a garden hose. This would probably offend both your neighbor and a lot of environmentalists. But when it has to go, it has to go!

These are only a few options for removing poo from your sight. If you need more information on the best strategies to remove dog excrement from your house and you need it fast, visit: http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/how-to-get-rid-of-stuff/how-to-get-rid-of-dog-poo/
