Many do opine that only a professional trainer can groom a puppy and for this it should be taken to the professional classes of dog training. But this is not true in any way and expresses negative thoughts only. On the contrary you can start the dog training at your own residence and you can be the trainer. Though many favor to begin at any time, it is best to begin only when its age is between 6-8 months. This is the age when a puppy develops in the real sense and also starts responding to the external agencies. But you must be cautious of one aspect before any commencement. Each and every training session should be short and free from any tension. You must also remember that you are training a dog and you can't get the result instantly. It will take time and you mustn't lose self-control if there is any setback.

In many schedules it is witnessed that the trainer stops thinking about the inclusion of the name of the dog. But, it is necessary and the dog should be aware of its own name before anything else. You should always refer to its name in the program of training and watch out whether it is responding. This is essential and it should respond without fail. Your training will remain ineffective till it starts responding to the mention of its own name.

If it becomes successful to identify its own name, it is the time to start command training. In the command training you should start with the "sit" command. This is taught as the first command generally and the successes of the following commands depend on this. It may be that you fail to make the dog comprehend the essence of the command. In that case it will be better for you to physically demonstrate the instruction. Even if it fails to understand, repeat the same instruction for 4 to 5 days consecutively. But every session should be short and of 20 minutes. It is certain that after some days it will triumph. Once it learns this command it can manage the others swiftly.

It must acknowledge you as the leader. This is indispensable. You should know the theory of alpha dog and how it uses the power to make others subservient. You shall have to be the leader of the same form.
