Dog Behaviour Training - Most Common Mistakes

By Rikard Ingvarsson

No dog owner cannot have a well-mannered pet overnight. It happens to be the result of an intense process of grooming and for that there is the need of a rigorous form of dog behaviour training. There is no doubt that all of us are aware of this and hence try to apply the same. But the majority of us have to face the stark picture of failure. Who should be blamed for this? Is the dog the real culprit or the owner? Can the very procedure of dog behaviour training be the actual perpetrator?

The problem may lie with any of these three. It can be also due to the mistakes of the owner. We do know that no dog is perfect but the same is true in the case an owner also. In short, at several times a high prospective dog behaviour training gets jeopardized and do fail miserably due to the mistakes of the owner. This not only crushes the spirit of the training but also dampens its prospect. What are these mistakes that appear to be so decisive in training?

The first of them is the concept of inconsistent training. This is highly important and should be given a great concentration. You are definitely conscious of the safety and necessities of your child. You shall have to be conscious of your dog in an equal manner if not more. The dog behaviour training should be conducted on a regular basis. If there is any laxity in conducting this training, it can lead to more problems in the future. You must be conscious of your own behaviour. At several times it is found that we create the greatest problems. Take for instance you have just painted the front door. One day your dog tries to come in. You know that, if you don\'t let it cross the line, it can scratch the new door. To avoid any scratch you bring it in. But the dog learns that you are afraid of its scratches. So from the next time you can be blackmailed by the scratches. This is just a mere example and we do perform a horde of similar mistakes.

Well this is not all. We do also commit several mistakes during the command training. In the command training each and every command should be simple, instantly recognizable and of one-word. This is the fundamental but in reality we do just the opposite. The majority of us are found to instruct in harsh tones and this confuses the dog to the largest extent. The dog, as a result, becomes baffled and fails to perform the following commands also. This not only diminishes its spirit but also makes it irritated. If this continues relentlessly, it will become aggressive and also prone to biting.

It is also a grave mistake to hit him hardly. Remember that dogs are not intelligent human beings and so any type of destruction can take place. This is certainly not desirable but takes place. But physical penalization or warning is not any solution. Be aware.
