Dog Behaviour Training - How to Train Your Dog

By Rikard Ingvarsson

There is the need of a considerable dog behaviour training if you are the owner of a dog. It is known by almost all dog owners. But even after that the rate of success is quite low. The onus of this failure lies with the owner and not the dog, in any way. It is the owner only who can also be the best trainer since he knows his dog than anyone else. For this reason he should impart the best dog behaviour training as the trainer. But either he fails to do this or neglects the necessary advices.

It may be that you remain busy with jobs, kids, home maintenance and other various jobs of the family. However, the dog didn't come on its own to your residence but it was brought. Therefore it should be given the best training, which will groom it and make it complacent with your family. If you fail, you will face the consequences. This indicates that you will have to provide a specific time for your dog and may have to sacrifice other necessary tasks.

If you have already delayed, it's the time for you to rectify the mistakes. You may be astonished but its true that only a daily training of 15 minutes will fulfill the purpose. How should you begin then? First of all you should identify the breed of your dog. There are some dogs who due to genetic influences remain always leaders while others continue as mere adherents. This should be identified at the earliest since the procedure of training is dependent on this. Once you have identified this, it's the time for you to start the command training. You should use all the necessary commands from the very first day. These include "Sit", "Stand", "Run, 'Fetch". Learn by heart that each command should be unambiguous, specific and of one word. This will make the dog comprehended the commands effectively and act accordingly.

The duration of the training should not be extended and should be kept for 15 minutes on a daily basis. This will enable both of you to carry out the training with full vigor. The command training also establishes a good coordination between the trainer and the dog and it will be better if the reward training is also included. This is nothing but to treat the dog if it excels. The reward can be a food or even pats on the dog's neck and head. The effectual implementation of these energizes the dog in a better manner. But the reward should be given infrequently otherwise it may become synonymous to indulgence.

However you shall have to establish yourself as the leader. Dogs as wild animals live in packs and this single practice has a genetic influence on the posterity too. In each and every pack there exists a leader who enjoys an authoritarian power. This power makes the other dogs bow before it. It is necessary for you to be the leader of the same level and as a result try to establish your suzerainty from the commencement.
