For anyone considering bringing a new puppy into their family there is a long new puppy supply list that you should go over carefully. There are many things you will need for your puppy before even bringing it home.
* Collar or Leash- This is a necessity from the very first time you pick your puppy until they grow old. Make sure to choose a collar that will fit your puppy and you may even want to look into one that will extend so you do not have to buy another collar as the puppy grows into a large dog.
* Dog Crate- Your puppy will need its own crate to feel safe and to have a place of its own. Crates are essential in potty training a puppy. It is also a great place to keep your puppy while you are not home.
* Chew Toys- This is a new puppy supply list must have. Puppies love to chew and they will chew on anything and everything they get a hold of. By buying multiple chew toys, your puppy will be less likely to chew your furniture, rugs and other household appliances.
* Food and Water Dish- It is important for your dog to have its own food and water bowl. Make sure to consider the size of your dog and pick the right food and water dish. If you are getting a large dog you would want a bigger bowl and maybe even one that could be raised off the ground since your puppy will one day be a very tall dog.
*Grooming tools-These are very important and many people often leave grooming tools off of their new puppy supply list. You may plan on taking your puppy to a groomer but it is still important to buy nail clippers and a brush. Keep your puppies toenails at a good length and brush them regularly to keep their coats healthy and shiny.
*Carpet Deodorizers/ Chemical Deodorizers- You will definitely need to keep some kind of carpet deodorizers handy at all times. All puppies have accidents until they are completely potty trained. Being prepared for these accidents can help you clean them up and rid of the smell much easier.
*Name Tag-Perhaps the most important thing to provide for your new puppy. Always have the proper tags and identification for your puppy. Puppies are very curious and may run off on you at any time. You can go with traditional name tags or you can use the microchip they implant in the dogs now. Either way it is imperative your puppy can be identified in case it gets lost.
A few other items are optional on the new puppy supply list. These items include a pooper scooper. These are great for cleaning up after your puppy. A dog bed may also be a good investment so your puppy will have a warm, cozy place to sleep throughout the day and at night.
