Chihuahua Names

Many people think of Chihuahuas as the little dogs with the big attitudes. Now this does not mean that they are fierce dogs, but rather they are protective over their owners and extremely loyal. These cute little dogs are known for their high intelligence, ease of care, and love of humans. Chihuahuas live to be held by their owners and people they know well, however, if you reach out and try to pick up or pet a Chihuahua that does not know you, you may end up with a few chewed up fingers.

Chihuahuas are also famous for the fact that they do not seem to know, or care to know, that they are smaller than everything else around them. This is where the big attitude comes in. These dogs are not really great with other animals, and they absolutely love to voice their opinions. Most of them however, have worse barks than their bites, but that does not mean you should taunt or try to get near one that does not know you.

For these reasons and more many Chihuahua owners love to give their beloved new friend a name that makes them sound bigger than they actually are. Names are everything when it comes to getting a new pet; in fact many owners name their pets something that describes the personality of the dog or the personality they would like to see in the dog. Many Chihuahuas are very high strung and love to jump around and play so owners love to give their dog a hyper, playful name. Names that sound little are also very popular for this type of dog.

Because of all these traits a Chihuahua has, a new owner of one can find it quite difficult to name their new best family member. Tons of thoughts on good names run through the head at once and questions like should I name it something strong or something tiny? Should our new friend have a famous name or something no one else has thought of yet? Names are important and we would not want to name the new member of the family something that did not suit him or her.

Names that sound little.

Ladybug or bug, Butter Cup, Tinkerbell, Widget, Tiny, Bit-Bit, Pixie, Peanut Cuddles, Munchkin, Nibbles, Nipper, Squirt, Doodle, Chiquita, Put-Put and Peewee.

Names that sound big.

Zeus, Boomer, Bruiser, Killer, Hercules, Hulk, Kahuna, Samson, Rambo, Kong or King Kong, Bruno, Duke, Rex, Max, Brute or Brutus, Big boy, Big Shot, or Big Foot.

These are just a few of the great names that are fit for little dogs, especially little dogs with big attitudes. The name Tinkerbell seems to be very popular, as it is the name of Paris Hilton's Chihuahua that she was photographed with on the front of Seventeen Magazine. You can find many more names that are suitable for your new Chihuahua just by looking online or you can go by his or her personality. A little dog with a big personality deserves a big name.
