Most people know about the necessary dog supplies you need before bringing your new puppy dog home. Supplies such as food and water bowls, toys, leash and collars are a must before getting your dog.

But what about the not so obvious stuff? There are certain dog supplies that are optional when you are getting your puppy.

Dog Bed - Dogs love to sleep on a comfortable bed. If you mind your dog sleeping on your bed or couch, then consider a dog bed.

Dog Crate - Not only is a crate a place that your dog can call her own, it serves as a valuable training tool and can help you housebreak your new puppy.

Treats - Puppies and dogs love treats and they can also help your when training your dog. While they are not necessary, professional dog owners and dog lovers agree that treats are an excellent way to show your dog how much you love them.

Dog Brush - Depending on the breed you get, you might need a brush. Just remember that even short hair breeds shed more that the longer hair breeds out there. By brushing your dog, you can keep your dog, and your house looking clean.

Shampoo - All dogs will need a bath at some point. Do some breed specific research first to find out how often you will need to shampoo your dog.

Puppy Pads or Litter Box - More owners are turning to puppy pads and litter boxes to help them housebreak their pet dog, especially when you are not home t supervise your puppy.
