What kind of flea control are you using for your canine friend?
With all the products that are available it is hard to know which one to choose. So let's take a look at how Advantix works and why it is your best option.
Advantix offers twice the level of protection.
Canine flea medications are all basically the same. All but one contains just one active ingredient. But one active ingredient isn't as effective as two which operate together.
What are the active the ingredients?
There are two ingredients in Advantix, which gives it the edge over other flea control options.
Imidacloprid and Permethrin are the two active ingredients that form the topical parasiticide. When these two ingredients combine they prove to be more than a match for fleas and ticks.
How does it work?
Attacking different areas within the parasite's nerve cell it quickly paralyzes the central nervous system - shutting it down and bringing a quick and certain death.
But Advantix for canines goes a step further.
Not only does Advantix kill the parasites - it repels them. Fleas don't bite after 3-5 minutes of contact. Ticks are not able to get a good hold on your canine, preventing them from biting. Mosquitoes are repelled and killed.
What does this mean?
This means that your pet is not subject to the transmission of harmful organisms. Fleas, Ticks and Mosquitoes are all capable of spreading disease. Mosquitoes carry the West Nile Virus - Deer Ticks spread Lyme disease. Each of these can prove fatal to not only your dog but humans too.
How convenient is it?
It is a quick and easy method that takes mere minutes once a month. If you can part the hair between the shoulder blades on your dogs back and expose the skin, you can administer the product. For dogs up to 20lbs you can empty the vial in one spot. For larger canines you can place it in 3 or 4 equal amounts at intervals along the back. Once administered the natural movements of your dog will spread the dose over the skin.
What happens if my dog goes for a swim?
Advantix is waterproof and once the dose has been absorbed into the skin it will provide protection in rain, through repeated swims and even after bathing.
Can I use it on my puppy?
It can only be used on puppies over the age of 7wks.
Can I use it on my cat?
No. This product is not designed to be used on felines and you should not allow your cat to groom itself in close proximity to a dog that has just been treated with Advantix.
How long will it last?
Once applied it will provide full protection for an entire month. Each package will have 4 or 6 doses. Each dose is for one month. One package will last 4 - 6 months.
