When buying a new doghouse why should you consider buying a well built wooden dog house that is built to last instead of a cheap plastic thing that will have to be replaced in a year or so?

Wood construction is much better then plastic. A well built WOOD HOUSE will last for years. The plastic or fiberglass "igloos" may be a lot cheaper to buy in the first place, but they have to be replaced every few years. That can easily add up to a much higher cost not to mention the inconvenience of having to shop for another and getting rid of the old one every year or two. More plastic in the landfill. You may well be money ahead to buy right in the first place.
