I have had the honor and pleasure of having dogs around me most of my life but when I moved to Spain from the UK several years ago I discovered that there are many things that I took for granted living in Britain and they included my dogs health. Let me explain, in Britain, for example, it's easy to find a local vet and find lots of information that you need in order to keep your pet safe and well. It's also a lot easier to get your dog immunized and protected against any potential health hazards. This all changes radically if you decide to move to a different country and particularly if English is not the first language. The difficulties occur when you cannot get access to a land-line phone and believe me, this happens in many areas of Spain still. This means you no longer have access even to the Internet for information. If you live in an area with very few of your fellow countrymen and have not yet mastered the language then communication becomes a problem.
So, some burning questions on how you would?
Find a local vet?
Find out what questions to ask regarding your pet's health?
Find out about other health issues that can threaten your pet?
Find out what type of bugs can threaten you dog?
Find out how would you spot the first signs of a dogs disease?
I have moved to an area where there is a high density of UK nationals living and I have discovered by talking to lots of them that they were totally unaware to the different threats that can strike at their pet. They didn't know how to spot any of the dogs diseases prevalent in their new country and this included myself and I must confess that I was shocked at my own ignorance. I have now spent a lot of time researching in order to help myself become aware of the possible health issues that could affect my lovely dogs. As a result of this research and reading I feel that I now have valuable information that I can share with other dog lovers regardless of where they live in the world, who would like to know how to identify possible dogs illnesses and the tell tale signs to look out for.
Did you know?
For example, there's one dogs disease called "Leishmaniosis" and is the result of a mosquito infecting the dog with a parasite. It's very common in the warm Mediterranean countries but also occurs in many other countries including Middle America. It can be a chronic disease which has an incubation period of months, even years. Here's another one "Ehrlichiose" most people have never heard of this dogs disease either, let alone to be able to pronounce it! However, it's a parasitic disease and the culprit who transmits it is the Tick and this disease can be deadly. You can learn more about this in my free e-book. Other common potential threats to your dogs in countries around the Mediterranean for example are creatures like the mosquito, snakes, ticks and dogs worms. These little critters can cause havoc and pose great danger to your pet, so you need to know how to take measures to avoid and protect your dog from them. Unfortunately, I have met people who have dogs or have acquired dogs who had already picked up an infection from one of these little bugs and it's already been too late to save their lives and this can be really heartbreaking. This is particularly important in young dogs because they haven't had time to build a strong immune system so it's vital that you consult a vet to discuss all the options in protecting your best friend as soon as you can
Would you know what to do if?
You were faced with a situation forcing you to make a hasty retreat back to your home country for whatever reason? Have you given sufficient time to prepare and apply for your dogs passport, do you know how long this takes? Certain procedures will need to be completed well in advance for your dog to be given access back into your home country, particularly a country like the UK? Who have very strict rules of entry. If you have moved to a new country and would like to know more about some of the threats that could attack your dogs and how to spot the tell tale signs in the early stages of your dogs illnesses, then you are welcome to download this information free.
