Dog Aggression Problems?

By Vic Lee

Dogs may become aggressive for several reasons that have nothing to do with it being angry.

Many dogs are angry because it is afraid or stressed. Especially if a dog is confined to a small area it can become very stress and aggressive.

Other reasons may be because of bad training techniques such as using roughness or hitting your dog thus it can become scared and aggressive.

Also, dogs that are usually left alone or that where hit many times can become afraid and show aggression as a defense from other people or dogs.

In order to stop your dog's aggressive behavior you must let it know that being near you and others is safe. As early as you can, when you dog is still a puppy, let you dog socialize with other dogs frequently.

Also, let your dog be around other people as well, when you invite guests or family members so it knows who it can trust.

Another tip to stop aggressive behavior is to not get nervous and stay calm when you come near the dog. This helps your dog understand that there is nothing to be afraid about as your dog will react to your reaction as well.

Every time your dog is friendly with others, humans and dogs, make sure you reward your dog with treats and appraisals.

Stopping aggression in a dog may take time and overall lots of love and patience. Make sure you know what is causing the aggressive behavior (fear, stress etc.) and work from there.
